Useful Tips For Menus

You can choose to work with a menu either in a list view or in a weekly calendar view. The selection is made on the right side of the search field in the menu window:

All is for the list view and Week is for the calendar view.

Working in the week view of the menu differs from working in the list view as follows:

• You can add menu options, recipes and ingredients only by dragging them into the menu.
• In addition to this, information of a specific day can be moved into another day by dragging. In this case all the information is cleared of the day from which the information is moved.

You can hide/show columns in the Menus window through the menu icon displayed on the right end of the header row.

You can hide/show columns also when viewing a single menu in the All view through a cog icon, that will appear on the right side of the column titles when you take your mouse on it.

You can search data from the menu with the Search field in the menus function. You can enter several search words into the field at once, for example ”Tuesday”, ”lunch” and ”spaghetti”, and the system will display all Tuesdays with spaghetti as lunch in the menu.

Next to the search field there is a calculator, which displays how many meal options (M) and food rows (F) were found. You can utilize the search function also for finding out how many times a certain row, for example spaghetti, appears on the menu.

You can open several menus at the same time in tabs which makes it easier to move around the menus. You can open a menu in tab in the Menus function by selecting the menu and then choosing ’Open in tab’ on the top of the window.

You can copy single meals and meal options, days or weeks including all content from a menu to other menus. Transferring data from one menu to another is easier when you open the menus in tabs, as mentioned earlier.

You can delete several menu rows at once with the Multiple Selection function in the menus. When the function is used together with the previously mentioned Search function, it is easy to search and select the menu rows to be deleted.

You can move around the menu with arrow buttons. For example, if you want to update a new portion size or price to several menu rows, it is easy to move from a field of a menu row to the same field of the next menu row by using the arrow buttons.

First select the field of a menu row, for example Portion Size, enter the new value and then press the arrow-down button on your keyboard, and the system will move on directly to the Portion Size field of the next menu row, and you can enter the new value. The system will automatically skip the week and the weekday rows where there is no data to be edited. In this way you don’t necessarily need to switch from keyboard to mouse and back when editing the values for menu rows.

You can hide menu rows from the printouts of a menu, as well as from the menu published into the JAMIX MENU Service. This is useful for example when you do not wish to publish basic items included in a service line, such as bread or spreads, but you want to keep them on the menu for internal calculations.

All rows added to the menu are published as default.

Open the menu row which you want to hide by double-clicking on it and untick the Publish box.

You can also tick or untick the Publish box for several menu rows at once. First select ’Multiple Selection’ on the top of the menu window and then select, for example, all menu rows of one day. After this you can open a drop-down menu with the right mouse button and select ’Set published’ or ’Set not published’.

When the menu row is selected to be published, a cloud icon will be displayed in the Publish column. When the menu row is selected not to be published, a line icon will be displayed in the Publish column.

You can add languages and translate the system's content, for example recipes, to different languages for menu printouts and the JAMIX MENU service.

• First you have to add the languages in the BASIC DATA – Settings – Languages function.
• After this you will be able to choose the function, for example Recipes, for which the content will be translated in the FOOD – Translations function.
• Once the translations have been saved, you can select to print the menu with translations in the Menu tab of the Print functionality in the FOOD – Menus function.
