Additional Information On The CO2 Values In JAMIX System

JAMIX System includes category specific CO2e values for approximately 60 ingredient categories (CO2 values are not available in the US). The CO2 values are included in the nutritive values of the system. The categories cover all of the most general ingredients. The rest, that is marginal categories, are covered with general estimated values. The information is gathered from different sources. The source used is shown in the additional information field of the nutritive value. 

The environmental effects presented with the factors in the JAMIX System are derived from the usage of non renewable energy sources in different stages of the value chain, especially in primary production. The presented CO₂ values represent the major part of the emissions, but not all of them. We recommend to compare different dishes to one another instead of looking at the figures as such. The CO₂  values are based on the portion sizes and on the average environmental effect of ingredients. They do not take into account the general environmental effects of food service operations that could be allocated to all dishes, neither the special environmental effects of the production process of the dishes.

The average CO₂ reference values in the system are calculated from  a JAMIX data base including different types of recipes.
