Limiting Visibility Of Shared Menus Kitchen Specifically When Kitchens Have Different User Levels

This feature is available starting from version 4.43.0

You can limit the visibility of shared menus to specific kitchens by utilizing tags. This functionality is useful when you want to show a shared menu only to certain kitchens. Tags don't take user levels into account (user's unit or kitchen), so they can bypass the system's user-level structure. This means that you don't have to create separate copies of the same menu for each kitchen based on user level. Instead, by utilizing tags, the shared menu is shown only to selected kitchens. Managing and editing the menu is much easier in this way because you only need to maintain one menu for that purpose.

The visibility of shared menus to kitchens is restricted by adding tag(s):

1. for the shared menus where visibility needs to be restricted, and
2. for the kitchens where the restriction should be applied.

NOTE: If no tags are added to a kitchen, all shared menus will be displayed normally without any restrictions even if there are tags on the menus.

Example A)

A Dessert Menu is available only in certain kitchens in addition to the basic menu available in all kitchens. The Dessert Menu should be displayed only to the kitchens where it is available.

Use tags as follows:

1. Add a "Dessert Menu" tag to the shared Dessert Menu
2. Add a "Do not display menus with tag" tag to kitchens where the dessert menu should not be displayed.
3. Leave the kitchens, to which you want to show the dessert menu, without any tags. Kitchens you leave without any tags will be able to see all shared and user-specific menus, including the dessert buffet menu with its assigned tag.
   • You can add "Dessert Menu" tag to the kitchens for informational purpose, if needed.

Example B)

If you have multiple menus, and only certain ones should be displayed in specific kitchens in addition to other shared menus, for example:

• Dessert Menu only in Kitchen A,
• Sushi Menu and Pizza Menu only in Kitchen B.

Use tags as follows:

1. Add unique tags to all shared menus that should be displayed only in specific kitchens, as in Example A above.
2. Add tags matching with the menus to the kitchens where you want the menus to be displayed. For example:
   1. add "Dessert Menu" tag to Kitchen A,
   2. add "Sushi Menu" and "Pizza Menu" tags to Kitchen B.
3. Add a "Do not display menus with tag" tag to kitchens where the tagged menus should not be displayed. All other shared and user-specific menus will be visible to these kitchens.
4. Kitchens you leave without any tags will be able to see all shared and user-specific menus, including the menus with assigned tags.

How To Use The Feature

1. Add a Tag

BASIC DATA - Tags

1. Select Add.

2. Choose "All" as the User Level Unit.

3. Name the tag, for example, "Menu Type."

4. Choose "Multiple Fixed Values" as the tag type.

5. Add values for the tag:

Example A

"Dessert Menu"

"Do not display menus with tag"

Example B

"Dessert Menu"

"Sushi Menu"

"Pizza Menu"

"Do not display menus with tag"

6. Select Kitchen and Menu as the Targets for the tag.

7. Choose Save.

2. Enable the Feature In the Program Settings

BASIC DATA - Settings - Program Settings: Food tab

Select the tag you added earlier (e.g. "Menu Type") in "Filter menus using tags selected for kitchens". Only tags that have been assigned Kitchen and Menu as the target will be available for selection.

3. Add Tags To Kitchens

BASIC DATA - Kitchens - Kitchens (Food)

1. Open a Kitchen and select the Tags tab.

2. Choose Add.

• In the left Tag column, select the tag you created earlier (e.g. "Menu Type").
• In the right Value column, select the value you assigned to the tag. If the tag has multiple values that you want to add to the kitchen, add the tag multiple times to the kitchen and select a unique tag value for each row.

Example A

For the kitchens where the Dessert Menu should not be displayed, set the tag value to "Do not display menus with tag."

Example B

• For Kitchen A, add one tag with the value "Dessert Menu."
• For Kitchen B, add two tags. Set one tag value to "Sushi Menu" and the other to "Pizza Menu."
• For kitchens where the mentioned menus should not be displayed, add one tag with the value "Do not display menus with tag."

4. Select OK and then Save.

1. Open a shared menu.

2. Go to the General Information tab on the right side of the window

3. Choose "Add" under the Tag view.

• In the Tag column, choose the tag you created earlier (e.g. "Menu type").
• In the Value column, select the value you saved for the tag. If the tag contains multiple values that you want to add to the menu, then add the tag to the menu as many times as necessary and select a unique tag value for each row.
