Publishing Your Menu Online With JAMIX MENU Service
JAMIX MENU Service is an additional feature for JAMIX Kitchen Intelligence System which enables you to publish selected menus automatically online. The system will publish the menus in a unique web address which you can add for example on the company website. With the JAMIX MENU Service you can also display the menu electronically at point of sale for example on a tablet or a digital info screen.
In addition, in Europe you can choose to publish the menu in JAMIX MENU mobile application which the end customers can download for free from the AppStore or the GooglePlay store to their personal mobile devices.
The system will create a QR Code for the menu, as well, and you can add the code into printed ads, posters or into your website.
In addition to the menu content the published menu includes the following information:
-
Diets
-
Ingredients
-
Allergens
-
Nutrition facts and recommendations/dietary guidelines
-
Images included in the recipes or the servings when they have been selected for publishing
-
Carbon footprint (additional feature)
-
Customer feedback module (additional feature)
The end customer is able to filter the menu based on diets.
You can modify the appearance of the published menu for example by adding your company logo or by changing the colors for the fonts or the background. If you run several kitchens, you can create kitchen specific layouts.
This article covers the following topics:
Before Publishing The Menu
Before you publish your menu you need to check the information for the kitchens, and create the menu types in the basic data.
Updating the information for the kitchen
Information for the kitchen is not mandatory but it will increase the features in the JAMIX MENU Mobile Application and improve the user experience.
You can update the information for the kitchen in the Basic Data – Kitchens - Kitchens (Food).
The following information should be checked:
-
Address: The system will display this in the JAMIX MENU Mobile Application but it is not used for locating the restaurant on the map
-
City: JAMIX MENU will use this information for filtering restaurants by cities.
-
Latitude and longitude: The restaurant will be located on the map in the JAMIX MENU Mobile Application based on these values.
-
Telephone: Phone number for the restaurant. This information will be displayed to the user.
-
Email: Email address for the restaurant. This information will be displayed to the user.
-
Additional info: You can provide additional information for the restaurant, such as opening hours, special offers, etc. This information will be displayed to the user.
Menu Types
Open the Menu Types function in the Basic Data – Groups – Menu Types.
Add the menu types you will be using in your menus. You can use the menu types for grouping the menus for example by concept.
The menu type is mandatory when publishing a menu.
NOTE! The menu type will be displayed in the title of the menu published into the JAMIX MENU Service together with the name of the kitchen.
Settings For The Menu To Be Published
Create a new menu or open an existing menu that you want to publish.
The menu can be published when it includes the following information in the Menus function:
-
Kitchen
-
Start date in the Duration tab
-
Menu type in the Publish menu tab
-
Publish ticked in the Publish menu tab
Publish Menu tab
Select the Menu Type and check the Publish box.
Without any additional settings, the menu will appear as follows:

In the default window the price will be displayed on the meal type row, that is the title.
You can activate the following additional settings, if needed:
-
Presentation type (product list)
-
Day navigation
-
Mobile app (This feature available in Europe, only)
In the Published Menu Address field the system will display the link for the menu to be published into the JAMIX MENU Service.
The address includes the customer number for the license (?anro=), the number for the kitchen (&k=) and the number for the menu type (&mt=).
If you change the menu type in the Publish Menu tab, the number for the menu type will change in the address and so the address for the published menu will be changed. This needs to be taken into consideration, if the address has been added for example on the company website.
Duration tab
Open the Duration tab on the right side of the window. Make sure that the menu has a start date and add it, if needed.
Selecting the Kitchen
Select the kitchen for the menu on the top of the Menu window.
If you are using the Dynamic Menus functionality, the basic user does not select the kitchen for a shared menu as it will be automatically derived from the user profile. The kitchen of the user is displayed in the Kitchen field of the General tab.
Setting how many weeks forward the menu will be published
The user can decide for how many weeks forward the menu will be published. The setting can be done in the Food tab of Basic Data – Settings – Program Settings.
Publishing The Menu
You can publish your menus into the JAMIX MENU Service in the Publish Menus function on the top of the Menus window. You can do this right after making changes to your menu or later, if you wish.
Open the Publish Menus function
Open the Publish Menus function on the top of the Menus window. The system will list all the menus with the required settings for publishing (kitchen, start date, menu type, publish).
You can search for menus based on the name and the menu group.
Select the menus to be published
Select the menus to be published by ticking the box in the beginning of the menu row. You can tick all the menus at once by ticking the box on the header of the list.
Publish the menus
Publish the menus by choosing Publish on the bottom of the window. The system will publish the menus immediately into the JAMIX MENU Service.
NOTE! If you make changes to the menu or to other information included in the menu (for example change in a recipe or ingredient included in the menu) you need to re-publish the menu in order to have the changes updated into the JAMIX MENU Service, as well.
Publishing several menus under one kitchen into tabs in the JAMIX MENU Service
If you have several menus under one kitchen with the same menu type and the same validity period, the menus will be published in one JAMIX MENU address in separate tabs.
Publishing several menus under one kitchen into individual JAMIX MENU addresses
If you have several menus under one kitchen with the same validity period but with a different menu type, the menus will be published into individual addresses. The published menus of one kitchen will be displayed as a list in the main view of the JAMIX MENU Service.
Automatic publishing of the menu
You can set a weekly recurring automatic publishing time for menus that meet the publishing criteria. This setting ensures that the information is updated regularly into the JAMIX MENU Service even if the user would not update the menus separately in the Publish Menus function.
The setting is activated in the Food tab of the Basic Data – Settings – Program Settings. Select ’Publish menus automatically’. Select the start date for publishing in the ’Select date for publishing’ field. The system will publish the menus on the same weekday and at the same time each week starting from the date of publishing. Save the settings by choosing Save on the top of the window.
Publishing theme weeks/days on the menus
You can add theme weeks/days in the menu and they will be published into the JAMIX MENU Service, as usual. If the Dynamic Menus functionality is activated and you are using the Menu Cycle functionality in the menu, the theme weeks will be included directly into the menu to be published with the Menu Cycle functionality. See instructions: Dynamic menus: Menu Cycle.
Information Displayed In The Published Menu
Title for the menu
The name of the kitchen and the menu type are displayed as the title of the menu in the JAMIX MENU Service.
Ingredients
The ingredients displayed in the JAMIX MENU Service are derived from the ingredient names included in the recipes or the servings, or the individual ingredient names on the menu, and from the label information registered in the basic data of ingredients or nutritive values.
You can block ingredient names from being displayed in the JAMIX MENU Service with the ’Ignore ingredient name’ setting in the Food tab of the Basic Data – Settings – Program Settings function. In this case only the label information registered in the basic data of ingredients or nutritive values linked to either ingredients or stock cards is displayed in the published menu. If label information has been registered in several functions, only the label information registered to the nutritive value is displayed in the published menu. If label information has not been registered to ingredients or nutritive values, the ingredient name will be displayed in the published menu despite of the setting.
You can utilize the ’Ignore ingredient name’ setting also if you want to publish a different name for an ingredient. For example the ingredient name ’Carrots raw’ could be published as ’Carrot’. In this case you need to register the desired name in the label field in the basic data of the ingredient or of the nutritive value linked to the ingredient or the stock card. If you want the ingredient list to be published in addition to the ingredient name registered in the label field, you can register the information as follows: Ingredient name (ingredient list).
Prices
Presentation by Meal Types (default)
If you have registered prices for the meal type rows in the menu, the prices will be displayed in the JAMIX MENU service only for the meal type rows, that is on the title level, for example after the title Lunch. The prices for the menu rows, that is for the recipes or the ingredients, will not be displayed.
Example:
Lunch $ 12.50 (meal type)
- Meat balls (recipe)
- Mashed potatoes
- Green salad
Presentation as Product List
You can choose the presentation type as product list in the Publish Menu tab. When Product List is chosen as the presentation type and you have registered prices for the menu rows, that is for the recipes or the ingredients, the prices will be displayed in the JAMIX MENU service only for the menu rows. The prices will not be displayed for the meal type rows, that is on the title level.
Example:
Soups (meal type)
- Vegetable soup $ 5.00 (recipe)
- Shrimp soup $ 9.00
- Beef soup $ 7.50
Images for Recipes and Servings
You can publish images for recipes and servings into the JAMIX MENU service. Published images are displayed in the service together with the meal option selected, for example images for recipes and servings included in lunch.
Images to be published are added in the Images tab of the Recipes or the Servings functions. When adding or editing an image you need to select Publish and finally save the recipe or serving. When a recipe or serving with images to be published is included in a menu that is published into the JAMIX MENU service, the images will be displayed in the service after the menu is published.
Publishing the menu in several languages
You can publish the menu into the JAMIX MENU Service in several languages. Please contact helpdesk@jamix.com for more information.
Modifying The Appearance Of The Menu According To Your Own Design
You can modify the appearance of a published menu by adding an image (eg. Company logo) or by changing the colors for fonts and background. If you run several kitchens, it is possible to create kitchen specific designs.
You can log into the Visual Editor of the published menu by adding the text ’&edit’ in the end of the url address of the published menu. The User ID for the editing view is your customer number and the password is the same which you have used for registering JAMIX Kitchen Intelligence System. The five digit customer number can be found for example in the url address of the published menu, after the text ’anro’. If you are missing the password used for registering the system, you can send a request for it by sending email to: servicedesk@jamix.com.
Instructions for modifying the appearance of the menu can be found in the Visual Editor.
Removing a menu from the JAMIX MENU service
You can remove a menu from the JAMIX MENU service through the previously mentioned Visual Editor.
Log into the Visual Editor. You can remove a menu from the JAMIX MENU service by clicking the trash bin icon in front of the name of the menu under the title Delete/remove menus on the right bottom corner of the window.
